Cheap or nasty? I’ve been carving out micro-efficiencies in my business for years. This includes scheduling meetings for 20 minutes, or 45 minutes, instead of a half hour, or hour (and, yes, you can get the same amount of work done). Another is not driving, but being driven.
I so enjoy your insights Andrew, and you sharing your personal story of how you developed your capacities to summarise through listening to groups, responding to well crafted questions. And thanks for the 'lurkers' tour of Atelier de Joel Robuchon from all those years ago. What a delight. I could almost taste what you were describing. David and I choose the chefs table wherever we can because of the extra sensory experiences and the privilege of seeing others at work. Many of the interactions are incredibly generous and educative.
Thanks for sharing your powerful observations, ideas, and tactics. The three-point listening summary is an excellent practice I'll strive for immediately. And your kitchen observations, as I pursue my latest hobby of cooking, but also help businesses with strategy, give me a great framework. My three-point summary of your newsletter: To look and listen, to think and summarize, to communicate and inspire!
