Inverse relationships If you have children, I’m sure you know that feeling when an insight they share makes you almost burst with delight. Well, I had that feeling last week with my almost 14yo son, Jasper. We were talking about where teens get information about complex topics (drugs, sex, politics, social mores) and I quoted one of my clients who’d done research on exactly this. They found that — in this order — teenagers get information firstly from their friends, secondly online, thirdly from family and lastly, from school.
On ambient electronica music Andrew, are you familiar with Brian Eno? He was a pioneer of this genre back in the 70's (hear Another Green World album). Some tracks are vocal free and some aren't, but there's a number I recommend listening to.
I'm currently Enjoying Trent Hawkins (Minut) on Spotify. Thanks for the recommendation! Your tastes overlap mine; I can't stand lyrics when I'm trying to concentrate. Two other new favourites of mine: Ben Sims, and Klangphonics but note that both have pieces with and without lyrics. Maybe start with White Flower, Klangphonics, just one lyric towards the start, and Straight From Bolivia, Ben Sims.
Ha! Fantastic - what an appropriately weird way to be introduced to this surreal music!
Enjoyed today's 5MSM thanks...

Fabulous and thought provoking as always. I'll be tabling the inversely proportional concept at the dinner table with my teen and emerging adult
